Dheeraj Kumar Death News: The Indian cinema and television are sad on it. Indian Film maker and Veteran actor Dheeraj Kumar dies at the age of 79. He died on the 15th of July 2025 following on the 12 th of that same month, when he was hospitalised at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai, after being diagnosed with Acute pneumonia. He was monitored in the ICU yet he succumbed to the health cases.
So let us just review his phenomenal career that saw him as an actors, as a director, and above all as a legend of Indian entertainment.
Who Was Dheeraj Kumar?
It is quite possible that you have seen the work of Dheeraj Kumar in case you have ever caught up a classic Bollywood or devotional TV show.
He was not only an actor. He was a narrator, a dreamer and an actual creative. This filmmaker began in the late 1960s and was born in 1944. He got into the movie industry when he became one of the finalists in a talent contest in the company of names such as Rajesh Khanna, Subhash Ghai.
He later acted in more than 21 films between the 1970s and 1980s. Some of his most notable appearances include:

But he wasn’t just limited to films…
The Man Behind Iconic TV Shows
Dheeraj Kumar also made a huge mark in the Indian television space. In 1986, he founded Creative Eye Limited, a production house that produced several popular and spiritual TV shows.

Such shows did not only entertain people, but were part of their lives. Dheeraj Kumar possessed the talent of presenting Indian mythology, values to the screen in the simplistic, beautiful manner.
What Happened to Dheeraj Kumar?
It is reported that he was taken in to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai, where he had been very seriously breathing short. He developed acute pneumonia and was taken to the ICU.

On July 15 th 2025 he died peacefully under medical attention. A statement by his team and family earlier on had asked for prayer support towards his recovery, and, unfortunately, the situation turned around.
His Last Appearance: A Spiritual Moment
Dheeraj Kumar had been to the opening of the ISKCON Temple in Kharghar in Navi Mumbai a few days before he was hospitalized. At the same time, there, he discussed his ideas about the concept of spirituality and even gave credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in enhancing Sanatan Dharma.

This tells you everything about the man — humble, spiritual, and always grounded.
Industry Mourns the Loss
After the news of his death spread, tributes started pouring in from all corners of the entertainment world.
Actors like Raza Murad, Deepak Parashar, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi attended his funeral.
Actor Rahul Raj Singh, who worked with him on Ganesh Leela, shared an emotional note:
“He was more than a producer. He was a mentor, a gentleman, and a guide to so many of us. We’ve lost a gem.”
Final Rites
His last rites were performed on July 16, 2025, at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by close family, friends, and several colleagues from the film and television world.
His family issued a statement:
“He was always smiling, always giving… a true gentleman. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Legacy That Lives On
Dheeraj Kumar was not only a star but an emulator of universes. His work made the mythological stories alive. Millions of people were inspired by his characters. And through his faithfulness to his work he became the darling of every family.
Living in the realm where fame is short lived, he constructed something which will not be here today and gone tomorrow.
His company Creative Eye Limited remains to this day as being a pioneer of devotional and mythological programming in India.
