Expectations tend to soar to incredible levels when an actor reaches his pinnacle of fame and yet decides to part ways with the silver screen and move on to serve humanity. This is what happens to Vijay’s movie, Jana Nayagan, which, from start to end, carries a sense of great expectations. As the movie is about to become Vijay’s last appearance on the big screen, before he takes up the mantle of social service, Jana Nayagan aims to be a lot more than just an entertainer.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan comes packed with some very good scenes for Vijay fans, although the fact that the movie suffers from the overload of its screenplay stops it from becoming a brilliant work of art.
Story
The movie features Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a man with a shady past who vows to protect the daughter of one of his closest friends who gets caught in tragedy. In the course of ensuring safety and security of the girl while helping her overcome her fear and chase her dreams, Thalapathy is pitted against a villain who seeks power and supremacy in order to destabilize the nation.
The simple story that starts out as a guardian-daughter conflict story takes a wider turn as a power, ideology, and justice conflict. This movie seeks to reconcile personal relationships with national issues, thereby raising the level of stakes as the plot unfolds.
Vijay Steals Every Scene
There is no question that Vijay is the heart and soul of Jana Nayagan. He is still unsurpassed in his screen presence and commands attention wherever he goes.
