Beauty Movie Review: Beauty is the movie based in Vizag and the plot of the movie centers on a middle class girl called Alekhya (Neelakhi). Her father Narayana (VK Naresh) is a cab driver and the mother (Vasuki) takes care of the home. Alekhya desires to have a scooter like those of her peers, and in this adventure, she encounters Arjun (Ankit Koya) who is a pet trainer and later goes on to become her driving instructor and subsequently a lover.
The plot turns a twist when the mother of Alekhya spies her in the late-night romantic video call. Scared and desperate, Alekhya elopes with Arjun to Hyderabad. The father doggedly trails them and all this results in emotional conflicts, surviving games and a third mysterious subplot.
Analysis and Themes
Beauty is a mixture of young romance and good family values. Its main theme is evident, love of a father cannot be substituted and hasty decisions, taken by children, may have agonizing outcomes.
The first part predetermines the setting of the middle-class family, purity of the dreams of the main heroine, Alekhya, and her young romance. The second half takes a turn into the darker realities, and it reveals how soon love stories can turn into the dreamy and difficult ones in response to the society and survival.
Emotional highlights include:
- Alekhya’s mother catching her during the video call.
- Narayana unknowingly giving his own runaway daughter a cab ride.
- Flashbacks showing the father’s protective love in contrast to her new choices.
In as much as the movie is emotionally appealing, it lacks originality and logical holes. The subplot of the third person is not developed properly and the climax does not provide a power punch as the set-up gave.
Performances
- Neelakhi (Alekhya): Delivers a natural and relatable performance, resonating especially with young women.
- Ankit Koya (Arjun): Honest and sincere, though his character could have had more depth.
- VK Naresh (Father Narayana): The heart of the film. His performance is deeply moving and elevates the father-daughter bond.
- Vasuki (Mother) & Supporting Cast: Strong presence, adding credibility to the family dynamics.
Technical Aspects
- Music (Vijay Bulganin): Songs are melodious, while the background score beautifully enhances emotional scenes.
- Cinematography (Sai Kumar Dara): Visually pleasant and grounded in realism.
- Editing (S.B. Uddhav): The second half could have been tighter to avoid pacing issues.
- Production Values: Decent, giving the film a polished yet simple feel.
Verdict
Beauty is an amalgamation of a well-known storyline and emotional character. Although the story does not really have too many surprises, the acting, particularly that by Neelakhi and VK Naresh, transforms it into an interesting one. The father-daughter relationship is the heart of the movie, and its main message on family love and responsibility renders it worth watching among the youth and parents.
