Plot Summary

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a story of a rich and influential young man Vikram Aditya Gokhale (Harshvardhan Rane) who gets concerned with Adaa (Sonam Bajwa), a glamorous actress who tries to realize her artistic ambition. The love at first sight turns into a toxic obsession of Vikram Aditya and the border between the love and control is erased. The movie captures how he is so persistent even though Adaa does not reciprocate this, which brings about tension and drama.

Star Performances

Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane present good performances using their eyes. Their chemistry is hard to deny, however, it cannot save the problematic narrative of the movie. The character of Vikram Aditya played by Rane is passionate yet he comes to the edge of ridiculousness, supporting negative elements instead of bringing out the actual romance. Sonam Bajwa is marvelous in her role particularly when her character insists on being independent and it offers the only leveled moments in the over-the-top story.

Script & Direction

The script written by Milap Zaveri tries to incorporate some of the traditional obsessive-romance elements such as Darr, Tere Naam, and RHTDM into a contemporary storyline. Nevertheless, the movie tends to distort obsession to be an act of love, which leaves the young viewers confused. The exaggerated tone is seen in dialogues like; Jo Tu Paar Kar Raha Hai Wo Har Hadd Ki Hadd Hai!

The plot is not logically consistent whereas the direction is extremely focused on aesthetics of the movie (beautiful actors, glamorous settings, and music). The poisonous quality of the behavior of the main character is not brought up to real life in the film making it problematic despite the romantic wrapping.

Music & Cinematography

The music which is by DJ Chetas and Rajat Nagpal is harmonious and sound-produced and gives the film emotional depth. Cinematography records picturesque images and gives it the glamour factor. Nevertheless, the poor narrative cannot be replaced by music and visuals.

What Works

  • Strong visual appeal of lead actors.
  • Sonam Bajwa’s character arc offers some empowerment moments.
  • Melodious soundtrack and well-shot sequences.

What Doesn’t Work

  • Misleading portrayal of obsession as love.
  • Predictable and formulaic plot.
  • Hero’s toxic behavior normalized and romanticized.
  • Climax adds to the absurdity rather than resolving it logically.

Verdict

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat can best be described as an absurd obsession movie as opposed to a love story. It can be a cautionary tale to theGen-Z audiences, a lesson on the distinction between love and unhealthy infatuation, and can be useful to those above 25.

filmyhigh.com Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (1.5/5) – Strong performances and visuals are outweighed by a flawed, problematic narrative.

Final Thought:
The film might attract Gen-Z audiences who idolize intense, obsessive love stories, but for those seeking a sensible romantic drama, it is disappointing. Sonam Bajwa’s Adaa is the saving grace, offering a glimpse of rationality in an otherwise irrational narrative.
