A Comedy Special Inspired by His Real Bourbon Journey
The special was shot at The Kentucky Center of the performing arts in Louisville, where a stage was enclosed with wooden oak barrels in honor of the traditional Kentucky bourbon. Gaffigan said that the concept was the result of his immersion into whiskey culture in recent years, which later made him create his own label of bourbon.
The Birth of “Fathertime Bourbon”
In the pandemic years, Gaffigan partnered with an old college friend Stu Pollard to pour his whiskey passion and personal life as a father into a bottle. The outcome was Fathertime Bourbon, which was launched in 2024.
Fathertime is reported to be a high-rye Kentucky bourbon, which is issued in limited batches twice a year, spring and fall. The label will include a photograph of Gaffigan’s grandfather and will represent an instance of relaxation that all hardworking father will want to enjoy.
Gaffigan funny confessed that he is yet to know whether bourbon is a passion or a mid-life crisis but it definitely gives him creativity. This was a gift that was delivered to people like me- the bourbon geeks.
Why YouTube, Not a Major Streaming Platform?
Rather than partnering with a big OTT platform, Gaffigan intentionally released the special on YouTube. He wanted fans to access the show instantly without subscriptions or streaming restrictions — staying true to the spirit of the project: “just let the material flow.”
