Born Ritu Chaudhry on September 13, 1973, Mahima Chaudhry came into Bollywood like a meteor on the occasion of her beautiful debut in Subhash Ghai blockbuster, Pardes in 1997. She won the Filmfare Award in the category of Best Female Debut; her role as Kusum Ganga, automatically made her one of the brightest new stars of her generation.
Her experience of being a small town girl in Darjeeling to becoming a Bollywood star cannot be called less than impressive. Where she started her career as a model, she even entered Miss India contest in 1995 and was a finalist. This modelling experience gave her a gateway to the entertainment business and she became the break through role in opposition to Shah Rukh Khan in Pardes.”
