Sydney Sweeney Talks Bond Girl Rumors: Sydney Sweeney, who stars in Euphoria and has an upcoming sports drama, Christy, addressed the speculation in a recent interview that she would appear in the next James Bond movie.
Speaking of the speculation, Sweeney laughed and replied that he cannot, and then he added, being very frank, that he never knew all the Bond rumours, but he was always a great fan of the franchise. I am inquisitive and eager to know what they intend to do. It is all a matter of the script, really, added she smiled. Actually, I believe that I would enjoy it more playing James Bond!
It has been reported that Amazon MGM Studios, which has taken over the Bond franchise in 2022, is keen on having Sweeney in the next instalment in 2028. It is now owned by the studio with a complete set of creative control having paid a total of $20million to the long time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
New director Denis Villeneuve, who comes right after Dune: Part Three, will start searching the next James Bond in 2026. Sources report that he is seeking a new face in the British Isles and the casting is open on the iconic role of the spy. Nevertheless, a Bond girl origin is not necessarily dependent, therefore, Sweeney, native of Spokane, Washington, is one of the strong competitors.
Sweeney has attended big-time events that bring speculation such as the celebrity wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez in Venice. According to industry insiders, Villeneuve is a fan of her talent and her popularity, particularly, her relationship with younger audiences, which is essential to modernise the franchise.
Bond rumours are not the only thing that Sweeney is busy with. Her next roles will be in the series, *Christy, The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig, the last season of Euphoria in spring 2026, and the films I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl and an untitled Gundam film.
Magic lovers are awaiting impatiently whether Sweeney will enter the world of Bond with all the accompanying glamour but as yet she is in control of her array of upcoming projects.
