The electricity in theaters is generated to new heights whenever it is time to see Pawan Kalyan on screen. His new movie They Call Him OG also known as OG has finally reached the theaters and with big expectations. Directed by Sujeeth, the movie features Pawan Kalyan as the main character with Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das and Sriya Reddy.
Storyline
The story takes a turn of Ojas Gambheera (Pawan Kalyan), who was a Samurai warrior is now living with his wife (Priyanka Mohan) and daughter. The peaceful existence of his life is disrupted as Omi Bhau (Emraan Hashmi) endangers his family and drags him back into the bloody underworld. Although the installation is intense, the narrative is not new and is not refreshing.
Performances
- Pawan Kalyan– He shoulders the whole film. The fans can cheer up with the way he performs, the delivery of his dialogues and the presence of actions.
- Emraan Hashmi -Good screen presence, but poor role. His personality would have been stronger.
- Priyanka Mohan – She is attractive on TV but does not have much to do except cutting a usual wife figure.
- Sriya Reddy – A surprise package. After Salaar, she once again delivers a solid performance.
Direction and Technicals
It is evident that director Sujeeth is keen on popularizing the mass image of Pawan Kalyan, as opposed to developing a good narrative. Cinematography and action choreography are especially pleasing to the eye, whereas the screenplay is draggy at times and obvious twists bring down the effect.
Music and Action
The melodies are unmemorable, and Suvvi Suvvi wastes some time in the narrative. On the lighter note, the action scenes are staged very well and slow-motion entries by Pawan are whistle worthy scenes in theatres.
Watch or Skip?
Provided you are a die-hard fan of Pawan Kalyan, OG will keep you entertained with his charisma, dialogues and swag. However, this may not satisfy those seeking an in-depth and engaging gangster movie.

Rating: ⭐⭐✨ (2.5/5)
They Call Him OG works as a fan-service celebration of Pawan Kalyan’s superstardom but fails to deliver a fresh or emotionally engaging film.
