Story
DC is the story of Devadas who goes by the name of Das, an intimidating gangster who is always running away from the law enforcement authorities after committing a violent crime. While trying to escape, he meets a girl called Chandra who is emotionally scarred by her past experiences.
Instead of dealing with crime and violence, the movie presents the emotional struggles of its characters which prove that even the roughest individuals may have certain regrets and desires in life.
Performances
Lokesh Kanagaraj puts forth an assured and impressive first-time performance. Lokesh brings intensity to his portrayal of Das and appears at ease in high-action scenes as well as restrained in emotional scenes.
Wamiqa Gabbi emerges as one of the most outstanding performers in the film. She endows Chandra with depth and vulnerability, thus making her character a compelling one.
Sanjana does well in her supporting role, as does the rest of the cast in their contribution to the gloomy and realistic mood of the movie.
Direction
As always, director Arun Matheswaran displays his unique style through visual and action-packed scenes that carry emotional elements as well, thus creating a unique identity for the movie. Although there are instances where the script takes time to develop itself, the plot is quite captivating.
Music and Background Score
One of the most interesting things about the film is the soundtrack by Anirudh Ravichander. It gives energy to action sequences in the film, and at the same time, it adds emotional value to some of the moments in the film.
