Pushpendra Singh Controversy: Actor Satendra Soni, who shot to fame after acting in Aamir Khan starrer Laapataa Ladies, is now in a big controversy after making allegations that he was not paid for his work on a film set in Madhya Pradesh. The actor further said that he was subjected to intimidation when he demanded the money due to him and therefore, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) decided to take legal actions.
This issue is being widely discussed by all those working in the entertainment industry because of the bad treatment of the supporting artist and also the matter of payment on film sets.
Satendra Soni Shares Emotional Video
Actor Satendra Soni posted an emotional video on social media wherein he narrates what he had to go through during the shooting of an upcoming movie in Madhya Pradesh.
As per the actor, he received a signing amount from the producer before starting the shoot of the movie, while he was supposed to get the rest of the money during the production of the film. However, despite filming for several days, he was not paid the remaining sum.
When he asked about the pending payment, he claims the situation escalated unexpectedly.
Allegations Against the Filmmaker
The actor alleged that instead of clearing his dues, he was asked to leave the hotel immediately. He further claimed that he faced threats after raising the payment issue.
These allegations have attracted significant attention online. At the time of publication, the filmmaker has not publicly responded to these claims, and the allegations remain unverified.
AICWA Seeks Police Action
After these comments made by the actor, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) put out an appeal asking for the investigation of the situation.
They have demanded the government and police authorities to guarantee the security of the artistes and filmmakers while demanding an unbiased and proper investigation of the claims made.
As per AICWA, each artist is entitled to get his due remuneration, a safe working environment, and professional dignity irrespective of his part in the movie.
Safe Return to Mumbai
Later, Satendra Soni shared another video confirming that he and other artists had safely returned to Mumbai.
In the video, he thanked those who supported them during the difficult situation and expressed gratitude to everyone who helped ensure their safe return.
The actor described the experience as emotionally exhausting and said it was one of the most challenging moments of his career.
Satendra Soni’s Career
Although Satendra Soni has mostly appeared in supporting roles, he has gradually built a strong presence in the entertainment industry.
He has worked in several well-known projects, including:
- Laapataa Ladies
- Doctor G
- Bawaal
- Raat Akeli Hai
- Hello Bachhon
His performance in Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, brought him wider recognition among audiences.
The actor is also set to appear in the highly anticipated Mirzapur: The Movie, one of his biggest projects to date.
Debate Over Working Conditions
This situation has, yet again, brought attention to the issues of delayed payments and working conditions faced by the supporting actors in the film industry.
It is common knowledge that professionals in the film industry have, time and again, complained about the unfair treatment that character artists and younger actors receive when compared with the lead actors.
This has brought back the discussion on how to improve professional standards in cinema.
Investigation Awaited
With the issue becoming a public interest, people are now waiting for the findings of the formal investigation to know what the truth is.
Inasmuch as the claims have only been made due to the statements by the said actor, it will be highly unethical for anyone to come up with any conclusion until the authorities conduct their investigation and everyone concerned has spoken up.
The issue has become a big talking point in the entertainment industry.
