A Promising Start Turned Into a Major Challenge

Vikram Bhatt, who is the creator of the project stated that this began with a great deal of buzz and anticipation after his previous horror film became a blockbuster. Yet, just ten days into the shoot, money ran out.

Due to the situation, many films wouldn’t have gone forward but ‘with my team I put my foot down’. Loans were secured, vendors agreed to hold off for payments, and somehow production inched along with a cloud of ever-present debt hanging overhead.

Production and VFX Problems Added More Pressure

Vikram Bhatt, the creator of the project said that this all started with lots of hype and excitement after his previous horror film turned out to be a blockbuster. However, within ten days of started shooting money had run dry.

The filmmaker stated that he strongly believes the allegations against them were false. However, he spent 75 days in prison while the film remained unfinished. During this period, interest on borrowed money continued to grow, creating additional pressure on the project.

While in prison, Bhatt reportedly suggested that the producers release the film without him. However, producer Anand Pandit refused.

According to Bhatt, Pandit’s response was simple but powerful: “No Vikram Bhatt, no film release.”

Team Worked Around the Clock After His Return

After returning to Mumbai, Bhatt discovered that post-production work had come to a standstill. He and his team immediately resumed work and spent long hours completing the project.

The filmmaker said that many people stood by him during the difficult period and worked tirelessly to ensure the film reached completion. Some members of the team reportedly worked up to 18 to 20 hours a day to finish the movie on time.

Last-Minute Legal Hurdles Before Release

Even after overcoming production challenges, the film faced another legal obstacle shortly before its release.

Bhatt explained that the issue threatened the theatrical launch of the film. Fortunately, the necessary clearances were eventually obtained, allowing Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past to arrive in cinemas.

Despite limited promotional activities, the film managed to attract audiences and generate positive word of mouth.

Haunted 3D Surprises at the Box Office

The supernatural thriller has emerged as one of the surprise performers at the box office. According to trade reports, the film collected approximately ₹11.55 crore within its first four days.

The movie reportedly outperformed several heavily promoted releases, including Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, and Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor.
